About MLD

The lymph system is not only responsible for carrying excess water, proteins and waste products back to the blood stream, also help filter the lymph (by lymph nodes) and regulate protein concentration.  If excessive fluid build up in the connective tissue or the lymph pathway is congested or damaged, then edema occurs.

Dr Vodder’s Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) was invented by Dr. Emil Vodder in 1930s. Through the pumping and stretching effect of the lymph vessel, MLD  stimulate the opening of the initial lymph vessel and make lymph flow faster, hence help body recover faster.  The gentle rhythmic pumping movements produce rapid results with various effects, such as edema reduction, pain management, scar tissue prevention, fibrosis reduction, infection prevention and immunological benefit.

MLD has many diverse application, such as, sports injuries, post operative, plastic surgery, post liposuction, scar tissue, burn, hematoma, chronic inflammation, migraine, sinusitis, etc.
